PCB was engaged by Brookfield Johnson Controls to carry out the upgrade of various buildings, and fire safety systems, within the HMAS Penguin site. The purpose of the work was to afford the site with conformity to current BCA, DDA, and MFPE requirements.
The works covered buildings with many purposes, including Administration, Stores, Medical, Canteen, and Recreational.
PCB devised a unique solution to required modifications to access within a Heritage listed building. This negated the requirement to build a modern addition to the structure which would not have been in keeping with its Heritage aesthetics.
We also provided the client with alternate solutions to fire separation between existing structures; and the configuration of fire compartments.
The project included aspects such as new Fire Panels, Occupant Warning Systems, Smoke Detection, Smoke Sealing, Door and Footpath reconfiguration, Balustrade reconfiguration, Emergency & Exit Lighting, Hose Reels, and Fire Extinguishers.
All works were completed to schedule, and within budget. PCB also provided for the final certification of the works.
